Did you ever experience a sunrise on one of our most beautiful mountains in the area?
The view from the top is spectacular. You can see the sea in the south, the high mountains in the north and in between the green area round Plakias.
The hike from the hostel takes about 2.5 hours following the coast and passing the beaches at Damnoni and Ammoudi beach. From there you walk uphill to the chapel on top of Timeo Stavros. The path is not too difficult to find and climb. The hostel manager can show you the best way on a map.
A fantastic idea is to go in the night for the sunrise (a torch is recommended).
The sun slowly rises from the mountains of Akoumia.
Take some breakfast with you and enjoy the silence and the view up there. Out in the sea you see the Paximadi Islands and if the air is very clear also Gavdos, the most southern island of Europe.
On the way down you will pass a fantastic landscape and it might be a good idea to go down to Skinaria beach which is one of the best beaches for snorkeling.
